Bread of Life Community Meals exists to help fight hunger in Woonsocket by serving hot, delicious meals in a safe, welcoming, and loving environment. Our mission is rooted in a holistic ministry approach that cares for the whole person: body, mind, and spirit.
We believe that food is more than something people need to survive. Around a table, people are seen, dignity is restored, friendships are formed, and hope can begin to rise again. That is why our heart is not only to serve meals to unhoused individuals, but also to create a community space where families, seniors, children, neighbors, and anyone in need can come, eat well, and experience genuine care.
Bread of Life began as Manna Ministries under the faithful leadership of Deacon Mona. For seven years, the ministry served hot meals every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, becoming a consistent source of compassion and support for many in our city. When COVID hit, the ministry was forced to pause, but the vision never died.
Today, Bread of Life has been relaunched as Bread of Life Community Meals under the leadership of Deacon Michael and Sister Jessica Williams. We currently serve meals on Wednesdays and are prayerfully working toward returning to three days a week.
Our desire is simple but powerful: to lovingly empower all who visit to prosper. We serve with compassion, excellence, and faith, believing that every meal is an opportunity to remind someone that they are valued, loved, and not alone.
